Trees are one of the most magnificent forms of life that symbolically represent many important life lessons. They can teach us quite a bit about the human experience. Here are 7 important lessons demonstrated by trees.

1. The depth of the pain allows for us to reach the heights of joy

When humans go through extreme suffering, it can sometimes lead to insight which then allows for one to increase their baseline happiness. Similarly, trees roots grow deep, which gives them a solid foundation from which the crown emerges.

2. We are resilient

Trees are highly flexible and will bend before they break. They remind us that no matter how adverse of a situation we face, we can always learn to stand back straight.

3. Adversity leads to growth

The wind might bend the tree, but ultimately that adversity helps it grow. Storms will only make the roots of a tree grow deeper. Similarly in our lives, after we face difficulty we come out wiser and stronger.

4. Stay persistent

Trees continue to grow amidst losing branches or enduring the harshness of the winter. This is a great reminder to avoid setting limiting beliefs for ourselves as to what we can or cannot do. Losing time, money, or enduring a heartbreaking experience can not stop us from achieving what we want if we choose to be persistent.

5. Dig deep & stay grounded to reach high

The observable part of a tree is only the tip of the iceberg, the foundation is where the real growth happens. In order for the crown to flourish, trees grow deep beneath the surface and stay connected to their roots. This reminds us that the more we grow internally, the more we will achieve externally.

6. Unity is power

Redwood trees are the strongest and oldest trees on earth that can withstand all kinds of natural disasters, but their roots don’t grow deep. So how do they withstand such strong storms? They do so by intertwining their roots beneath the surface. When a baby redwood tree sprouts, the trees quickly collapse in and connect together. Their strength is found through unity. This is an important demonstration of the power and value of community.

7. Diversity creates a symphony

There are thousands of different types of trees which serve different purposes. Agarwood trees give us fragrant incense. Many trees provide us with food such as apples, mulberries, bananas, and more. They are a home for many animals such as squirrels and birds. In the winter, when all the other trees have shed their leaves, Evergreen trees provide a home for animals.

Each tree has its own unique quality that is different yet equally important in its own context. As with humans, when we each find our place of service in this life, we can embrace diversity and differences to a greater extent.
