What is Somatic Symptom Disorder?

Somatic symptom disorder is a term introduced in the DSM-5 to replace somatization disorder, and hypochondriasis. It is characterized by one or more somatic symptoms (relating to the body) which interfere with everyday life, accompanied by anxiety and worry relating to the symptoms.
